YATAN came into being with a group of individuals and organisations coming together to make a meaningful social change. Ms. Shalini Kapoor, founder and President of YATAN intiated her work at grass root level with children of construction workers in Gurgaon. Shalini, who is a teacher by profession, belives that –
“Education should not be privilege . Education is the right of every child.”
With this aim in mind Yatan started its first centre in Kapasehra Village in 2015. Yatan provide free education , meals, stationery, counselling sessions and vocational training . Every winter we also undertake a blanket drive to provide warmth and comfort to the homeless against harsh winters.
अन्नपात्रा - Food Bank
In year 2020 with the outbreak of covid, Yatan started अन्नपात्रा for the jobless and covid affected families. With the support of volunteers and supporters Yatan distributed food and dry ration to over 10,000 families in Haryana.
विद्या विनयम - Back to school drive
विद्या विनयम – An initiative by Yatan to help children get back to school post covid lock down. Support given by means of providing digital devices for online classes, nutritious meals and books and stationery.
प्रोत्साहन - Skill Development
Yatan also started प्रोत्साहन , a vocational training programme for women who were jobless due to outbreak of Covid. Under this programme, Yatan gives training to women in making environmentally friendly products like Dhoopbati , Diya's with cow dung ,colours and incense sticks with temple flowers.
उड़ान - Menstrual hygiene campaign
To promote menstrual hygiene, Yatan has initiated project – उड़ान . Under this we have successfully conducted online & in person workshops on period safety and distributed sanitary products. We are backed by corporates for this initiative
सम्पूर्ण - Vocational Training
To enable the children to bridge the digital gap in learning, Yatan has started सम्पूर्ण .Under the aegis of Sampoorna we have opened a digital learning centre in Lucknow and Gurgaon.
पर्यावरण मित्रवत - Save Environment
To contribute our bit to save the environment , to become पर्यावरण मित्रवत We have undertaken workshops, awareness programmes to ban plastic, tree plantation drives and promote use of eco friendly products such as plantable stationery, cow dung diya and colours from temple flowers. We undertake corporate oders as well.
प्रवीण - Skill Share programme
We rise by lifting others .Through our volunteer based program – प्रवीण we seek to make a difference by actions which shape and mould the present into future which we can be proud of. Our volunteers offer their gift of time to teach , to build , to inspire and grow.
