On the auspicious occasion of Nirjala Ekadashi, which fell on June 18th, 2024, a spirit of selfless service filled the air we at Yatan NGO undertook Chabeel seva. Nirjala Ekadashi is celebrated in India to honor Lord Vishnu, the preserver god in Hinduism. It’s one of the most sacred Ekadashis (the eleventh day of the lunar fortnight) observed annually. This particular event aimed to serve the local community. This selfless act involved setting up stalls to distribute free drinks to anyone passing by in extreme heat. The Chabeel was a beautiful display of community spirit. Volunteers came together to prepare and distribute refreshing beverages like Ruhafza. Beyond the act of serving food, Chabeel Seva offered a chance for social interaction and fostered a sense of unity within the community. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion and giving back to those in need. The event not only offered refreshments but also embodied the spirit of serving others, aligning perfectly with the values of Nirjala Ekadashi.
